Colleen Barksdale

Colleen Barksdale is a loving and dedicated mother to her son Xavier and recently became a proud grandmother to Kai. With a strong commitment to serving her community, Colleen holds the position of Supervising Eligibility Examiner in the Medical Assistance Certification Unit for the Department of Social Services in Westchester County. For the past 27 years, she has been instrumental in helping individuals and families achieve financial freedom and independence.
Colleen’s educational background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Communication, as well as an Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies. These qualifications have equipped her with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate complex systems and provide invaluable assistance to those in need.
Outside of her professional role, Colleen actively contributes to her community as a board member of the Mount Vernon Day Care Center and as a dedicated volunteer for various causes. Her service-oriented mindset and compassionate nature shine through in her commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of others.
Colleen proudly served in the Marine Corps, enlisting in 1988 after being captivated by the Marines’ iconic Dress Blues Uniform. Her military service also honed her sharpshooting skills, showcasing her determination and discipline. She is a breast cancer survivor, demonstrating her resilience and inspiring others with her journey of overcoming adversity.
In her personal life, Colleen finds joy and solace in her faith, as well as her love for singing, traveling, baking, and playing board games. She has a keen eye for interior design and is affectionately called “Martha Stewart Jackson” by her family due to her passion for decorating and creating beautiful spaces. When she wants to relax, Colleen enjoys watching Hallmark movies and HGTV shows.
